FeedWeed privacy policy
Last updated 1 October 2026
FeedWeed is a browser extension that hides posts on x.com by topic. This page explains what it reads, what it sends, and who it sends it to. In short: it sends the text of posts you're looking at to an AI model so they can be sorted by topic, and nothing about you beyond that.
What FeedWeed reads
- The text of posts that X has already shown you on x.com, plus the text of any post they quote, and the author's handle, read from the page in your browser. FeedWeed makes no requests to X.
- Your FeedWeed settings: modes, categories and account rules you create.
What FeedWeed sends, and to whom
- Post text, for sorting. Only when a post could be hidden (your active mode hides something, or the author has rules you set), its text is sent to the Jev model by TypeSafe, through OpenRouter, which returns a topic. Handles, your account details and your browsing history are not sent.
- Post text, for suggestions. Only when you click "Suggest", up to 60 recent post texts are sent to Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite model through OpenRouter.
- Which route it takes. With FeedWeed credits, these requests pass through FeedWeed's server (hosted on Cloudflare), which forwards them to OpenRouter and does not store or log the post text. With your own OpenRouter key, they go directly from your browser to OpenRouter.
- Payments. Buying credits uses a Stripe Checkout page. Stripe handles your payment details under its privacy policy; FeedWeed receives only the amount paid and an anonymous account number.
OpenRouter's handling of requests is described in its privacy policy.
What FeedWeed stores
- In your browser: your settings, a random credits key, topic results cached by post id (not the post text), and a running total of what you've spent. The text of the last 100 posts seen is kept in the page's memory only, for "Suggest", and is gone when you close the tab.
- On FeedWeed's server: a hash of your credits key, your credit balance, and the Stripe payment ids that added to it. No post text, no handles, no email address.
What FeedWeed doesn't do
- No accounts or sign-in, no analytics, no ads, no tracking.
- Your data isn't sold or used for anything other than sorting posts for you, in line with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.
Your choices
- Sending post text needs your consent, given with a checkbox in FeedWeed's settings. Untick it to stop.
- Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in your browser. To have your balance removed from the server, contact us with your credits key.
